This last Saturday, December 18th, NanoXD Racing team raced at the 12 Hours of Orlando Kart Endurance 2021 class LO206.

The team was led by Gustavo Purgato,

who just recently won the 2021 PBIR Autocross League (in West Palm Beach FL) in the 4 Cylinder NA class.

It also has participation of Igor Dantas, Jon Leao and Carlos Purgato. The group went through a lot to bring the new car in the track and to be ready for such a high demand competition.

The 12-Hour endurance event happened at the Orlando Kart Center, which is managed by the talented former professional Kart racer Andre Martins and his staff of professional Kart experts. As the Covid-19 prevented many competitors from being part of the event, it still had the presence of some powerhouse names in Florida for the Tillotson and LO206 class.  The race did not shy away from heated moments and fierce competition; even in the Rental class, as it had a good participation of top racers with strong competitors vying for the top 5 positions in the race.

Gustavo Purgato led the team in the qualifiers, conquering the Pole-Position in the LO206 class with a time of 58.847 seconds. With such a promising start, Gustavo also led in the first stint but was suddenly surprised right in the second lap facing clutch failure, which forced an early pit stop. As the race continued, Igor, Jon and Carlos were able to recover some of the time and positions lost. But as the night went on other mechanical issues continued to haunt the team, leading to several stops for adjustments and continuous monitoring of all competitors, as everyone started to play the catch-up game.

Carlos Purgato made a strong presence in the race, always completing his laps with a good timing and helping to reduce the gap from the 1st place.

As Gustavo entered for his last stint with three hours left in the race and was able to improve the position to 2nd place delivering the Kart to Igor. However, as the car continued to have mechanical issues and the team racing behind it in 3rd place also facing several issues, the team decided for an strategic move. They continued the race in the last 15 minutes with Jon as the driver, who led the team to deliver their first podium with the 2nd place.

The first podium with 2nd place had a sweet smell of victory.

As the team struggled with several mechanical issues and a learning curve in the pit-stop, the final result proved to be such a great start with a promising future for a brand-new team racing in a brand-new car.

NanoXD company was also present, as the main sponsor for the NanoXD Racing team, supporting the team throughout the night and helping them to achieve such an incredible milestone.
